Mock trials are simulations of trial proceedings that occur in a courtroom setting. Their purpose is to recreate the process of presenting evidence, examining witnesses, and making arguments as would happen in an actual trial. Typically, mock trials involve fictional or hypothetical cases, and students are assigned roles as attorneys representing either the prosecution or the defense. They present their cases before a judge or jury, which could consist of faculty members, legal professionals, or fellow students. Mock trials are designed to enhance student advocacy skills. These practical skills include legal reasoning, oral augmentation and effective communication. Participating in these simulation court hearings allows students to make themselves efficient on the field. The mock courts help students construct their skills of persuasive arguments, respond to the opposing counsel, and confront legal hearings with confidence. These skills help students groom the necessary skills for a successful legal career. By actively participating in these activities, students cultivate valuable skills vital for success in the legal profession, such as gathering and assessing legal information, constructing coherent and well-supported legal arguments, and communicating effectively through written submissions.
